Day 1

COLOMBO

Welcome to Srilanka!

Meet & Greet at the Airport and Transfer to the hotel.

Visit of the city: known since the 8th century by Arab, Persian and Chinese merchants, this village nestled between two dunes, served as a trading post on the spice route for the Portuguese.

You will discover the Fort district, built in the 15th century by the Portuguese and its lighthouse-clock, the Pettah district, a Hindu temple and a Buddhist temple, the residential district, Bandaranake Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH), the new parliament. Transfer to the international airport and flight to France.

Day 2

COLOMBO / KURUNEGALA / HABARANA

COLOMBO – KURUNEGALA 85 km – (approx. 2 hours)

KURUNEGALA – HABARANA 80 km – (approx. 2 h)

Travel to Habarana via a beautiful road with varied landscapes: rice fields, rubber plantations and famous for its eco-tourism and proximity to national parks, ideal for safaris and nature lovers.

Day 3

HABARANA / THE ELEPHANTS / SIGIRIYA/ HABARANA

HABARANA – SIGIRIYA 25 kilometers – (approx. 20 min)
Visit to a school in the Habarana region (1 hour) welcomed by the young children and observation of several activities presented by these young students.
Then, visit a village followed by a meeting with elephants accompanied by a naturalist who will explain their daily life. After a drive of about 15 km from the hotel to the neighboring village, you will leave the main road and venture on a secondary road that will take you to the village of Sigiriya . You will cross rice fields and perhaps see farmers at work in their daily tasks.
Then crossing a lake in an ORUWA canoe and talking with the locals about their customs and traditions. Taking part in the elephant bathing, close to them. Magical moment: THE ELEPHANT BATH . Return by tractor. Lunch at a local's house : curry rice in a traditional bamboo and clay house.
Continue to Sigiriya Rock to visit the Sigiriya Citadel or Lion Rock, a romantic and grandiose ancient site with world-famous frescoes. Considered the 8th wonder of the world, it is a colossal rock of red stones dominating the thick forest that it overlooks by almost 150 m with the ruins of a grandiose palace, built in the 5th century by King Kashyapa.

Day 4

HABARANA / DAMBULLA / MATALE / KANDY

Departure for Matale; en route, visit the Dambulla caves . Refuge of King Valagambahu when he was driven out of Anuradhapura, his capital. After reconquering his capital, Valagambahu had the caves transformed into Buddhist temples.

Continue to Kandy, en route: stop at a spice garden. Tasting of spice tea, small massage with natural products and demonstration of a curry preparation for the group then lunch.

Visit to a batik factory Continue to Kandy “the sweet capital of the highlands” then to the Temple of the Tooth by Tuk Tuk. Visit to the Temple of the Tooth, a pink building surrounded by a moat, prominent and almost solitary, on the edge of the lake, from the 4th century AD.

Day 5

KANDY / PERADENIYA / KANDY

Visit the world famous Peradeniya Botanical Garden, a wide variety of species, impressive bamboos, orchids and blue and pink lotuses blooming in an artificial pond and sensitive flowers that react as soon as you touch them! Lunch at the local restaurant in the botanical garden.

Visit the city of Kandy with your guide.

Visit a museum and a workshop of precious and semi-precious stones. Walking tour of the local market of Kandy and free time for shopping in the alleys lined with many stalls offering: silk, local crafts, jewelry, basketwork, masks, umbrellas ... Then continue to Lankathilake. Meeting with a Guru of traditional Kandyan dances in his Kalayathanaya (where dance is taught). You will have the opportunity to learn traditional dance Small private dance show for the group.

Day 6

KANDY / GAMPOLA / NUWARA ELIYA / BANDARAWELA.

Departure for Kandy station to take the local train from Kandy to Gampola in which games will be organized to learn some words of Sinhalese. Arrival in Gampola and transfer to Nuwara Eliya where you will discover the "country of tea" with its tea pickers, dressed in brightly colored "longhis".
Visit to a tea factory and plantation with tea tasting and free time in the factory shop. We will organize a tea picking competition with professional tea pickers. This will be followed by a short walk in the famous climatic station, once created by the English and also called Little England. Continue to Bandarawela.

TISSAMAHARAMA / YALA / GALLE / KALUTARA.

4x4 Jeep Safari in Yala National Park.

Created in 1899, this 1249 km² reserve, located in the southeast of the island, is composed of savannahs, rocky plains dotted with thorns and swamps. It is one of the best places in the country where you can see elephants and other large animals such as: deer, wild buffalo ... Then continue to Galle , former Dutch trading post.

Visit the old town, surrounded by ramparts dating from the Dutch occupation, with a delightfully nostalgic colonial charm. You can admire ancient residences and the Groote Kerk, a church dating from 1754. Visit the fort and ramparts, the church and colonial houses. Visit the Galle fortress on foot with your guide.

On the way, stop at Kosgoda to visit a turtle farm, supervised by "The Wilde Life Protection Society of Sri Lanka", where the turtles are protected and then release small turtles into the Indian Ocean: an emotional experience for the group.
